Work with us
Interested in working with us? The following information will give you a sense of what it’s like to be part of our team.
Ninety-five per cent of ELCAP staff are Support Practitioners. They assist people with all aspects of daily living, enabling them to do the things that matter to them and achieve their full potential.
Our Support Practitioners enable the individuals we work with to:
- Have choice and control in their lives
- Develop their abilities and skills
- Have a visible presence in our community
- Be active participants in our community
- Make a recognised and value contribution to our community
Wherever possible, our care and support is delivered by small teams which are self-organised and stable. While staff can be asked to work across East Lothian and Midlothian, we try to deploy them in services in their community or close to it.
In a recent survey, 92% of our colleagues said they enjoyed working for ELCAP, while 90% said they are treated fairly at work.
While many colleagues have joined ELCAP from other social care providers, our staff come from a range of backgrounds.
In previous lives, some our Support Practitioners have been bar staff, bricklayers, members of the armed forces, scaffolders, shop workers and taxi drivers. If you are interested in a change of career, we would like to hear from you.
