Rona Passmore
Our colleague in the hot seat this month is Support Practitioner Rona Passmore.
When did you join ELCAP and what were you doing before you joined?
I have worked for ELCAP for over 27 years. Immediately prior to joining them, I worked in an office doing accounts and secretarial duties.
What is a typical day at work like?
There isn’t a typical day really – the gentlemen I support are very different and make their choices of what they do each day. They have some routines, which have to happen daily. Each requires a different level of support.
What’s the best thing about ELCAP?
The best thing about ELCAP is what we do to support each person to live their best life.
And what could we improve?
What we can always improve is the involvement of the people we support in local communities.
What’s your favourite film?
My favourite film is The Green Mile because it shows someone wrongly blamed for a crime because he was vulnerable and an easy target, but those who helped imprison him saw through the pre-judgements and got to know the real person and that the conviction was wrong.
Tell us something about yourself that might surprise us.
I have done a fair bit of TV/radio and been in the media, as an awareness ambassador for Target Ovarian cancer charity, after surviving the disease nearly 12 years ago.
