ELCAP supports Bright Sparks and Can Do

ELCAP has shown its support for our community by donating COVID-19 related savings to two local good causes.

Bright Sparks (Midlothian) and Can Do (East Lothian) are charities which provide play opportunities for children and young people with additional support needs.

Both organisations received cheques for £150.00.  The cheques were presented by Amy Aitchison, ELCAP’s Operational Lead for the Coast, and Kylie Rankin, Operational Lead for Midlothian.

Commenting on the donations, ELCAP Chief Executive, Paul White said:

“When our Annual General Meeting took place last October, COVID-19 infection rates were on the rise.  To play our part in keeping our community safe, we held our AGM online.

Our Board agreed that the savings we made on catering should be donated to charities which are changing lives in the towns and villages we serve.  While we missed catching up with friends of ELCAP over coffees and cakes, we were pleased to support Bright Sparks and Can Do with a small donation.  As a charity ourselves, we know that every penny helps.”

Both charities will benefit from a further boost.  ELCAP’s annual Christmas Jumper Day, held on 16 December 2021, raised £146.00.  This sum will be shared equally between Bright Sparks and Can Do.
