ELCAP gets LED by Bonnyrigg Electrical Services
In a year made gloomy by the COVID-19 pandemic, ELCAP has opted to look on the bright side of life by installing light-emitting diode (LED) lighting in its Woodbine Cottage office.
The change was enabled by local firm, Bonnyrigg Electrical Services (BES).
BES proprietor Stevie Russell said:
“We have been meeting ELCAP’s electrical maintenance needs for several years now, so we were delighted to work with the charity on the latest stage of its journey.
LED lighting is extremely energy efficient. It produces a large amount of light at a lower wattage than conventional lighting, which means lower energy bills.
In addition, LED lighting is designed and built to last. ELCAP can expect around 50,000 hours of light from the new strips lights we installed.”
In one room alone, the power required for the new lighting has reduced from 280 to 120 watts.
Welcoming the development, ELCAP’s Business Manager, Kelly Cunningham said:
“Bonnyrigg Electrical Services has helped us deliver on one of the objectives of our Sustainable Development Plan, which was to identify affordable solutions to improving energy efficiency in our office.
And in our own small way, we have supported one of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, which is to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
As well as doing our bit for the planet, by installing LED lighting we have created a brighter office environment.
Wherever possible, we like to work with businesses in our community. Bonnyrigg Electrical Services did a great job for us and we are grateful to Stevie and his son Bradley for their efforts on our behalf.”
ELCAP recently changed its electricity supplier to Octopus Energy, a firm which uses 100% green energy.
