LONG BREAKS, SHORT BREAKS AND DIFFERENT THINGS TO DO

People who need support in their lives and the people who provide that support quite often need and want time apart from one anaother. ELCAP provides a range of services to help people enjoy positive experiences away from their regular care-givers.

Long breaks can include:

  • staying away from home with up to six other people (and support staff) at a house in Tranent, East Lothian. One fully accessible bedroom with en-suite bathroom, plus six other large, well appointed rooms (with shared bathroom facilities), plus open plan lounge/diner/kitchen, plus small garder. Handy for shops and public transport
  • Holidays with support, with trained staff escorting and supporting you to a holiday of your choice

Short breaks can include:

  • Support to pursue existing interests, develop new ones, visit favourite haunts or explore new territory
  • Evenings out, weekend or weekday trips, from an hour or two, to a whole day

  • Let us help you think about the what you might want to do by way of some person centred planning, In this way we can support you to use your shortbreaks time to best effect
  • How to use this service:

  • Apply directly to ELCAP or ask your social worker, GP or health advisor to make a referral
  • We will help you assess which kind of short breaks will best suit your needs and help you draw up a programme of what you would like to do, when and with whom
  • We will then help you work out where you can get help with costs
  • We will work with you, your family and professionals involed in your care to produce a support plan which will guide the staff who will support you in your short-breaks programme
