ELCAP Trust

Some gifts bring a few moments of enjoyment. Others help change lives. Over the last few years, through the generosity of individuals and firms, the ELCAP trust has been able to make small grants of money to help people with significant disabilities increase their self-reliance, develop their skills and build their self-esteem.

The trust plans to enhance the lives and further the interests of people with disabilities and others in need of assistance. Grants can be made to purchase equipment, or services, e.g.

  • stowaway hoist for a wheelchair user to take to swimming pools

  • hydrotherapy bath

  • computer package with specialist software

  • electric wheelchair

  • holidays

  • voice workshops

  • loans towards the purchase of an adapted car

The trust was established by ELCAP, which is a registered charity, based in the south-east of Scotland, providing support to people with learning and other disabilities, and to their family carers. ELCAP's services are purchased by local authorities on behalf of people who require support. However, ELCAP also receives gifts and donations, and raises money through its own efforts. The ELCAP trust keeps such funds completely separate from contract income, and supports the purchase of items and activities which would not attract statutory funding.
