CAN YOU FILL THIS GAP? |
Three Executive Board members are stepping down this year and ELCAP is looking for energetic and enthusiastic people to fill the gap. The skills and expertise we are losing are mainly in finance, government policy and family experience of caring for someone with significant support needs. If you have any of the skills and experience we need and are interested in disability rights, community based support, community building and good governance in the not-for-profit sector you could be the person we're looking for. If, in addition, you are committed to inclusion and person centred services we will welcome you with open arms.

ELCAP's roots are in East Lothian but we are also growing in Edinburgh and Midlothian and would like to provide services in Borders. We are keen to recruit members with knowledge and experience of those communities. Our background was helping adults with learning disabilities move to small group home living but we see the future as personally tailored supported living and family based support for people of all ages with a wide range of support needs

The commitment is intense but not hugely time-consuming - an evening meeting of two hours each month, two 'awaydays' and an evening AGM each year with the option of joining a sub group or occasional working group. Support is available in the form of induction and training. There is no payment, but out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
